Howard "Stretch" Polizzo, age 61, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 4th, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with Jeanne Rains officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Mahnomen, MN, at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Howard "Stretch" Joseph Polizzo was born on November 7, 1956 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to parents Frank and Irene Sandrowski Polizzo. He graduated from Shelton High School in Shelton, Connecticut. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While in the service, he lived in England, Germany, and other parts of the United States. He retired after 25 years of military service.In 1997, he moved to Winger, Minnesota and worked at the Shooting Star Casino in the Building Maintenance Department. He enjoyed motorcycle rides, going to the casino and spending time with his best friend, Brendt Bakken. Stretch passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61 years.He is survived by his wife, Gloria, and her children, Debbie and Dylan Dixon of Fosston; brothers, Frank (Sue) Polizzo and Dave Polizzo; and niece, Erica (Jim) Tomatore and their daughter, Zoey; mother-in-law, Luella Voit of Mahnomen; and Gloria's brothers and sisters, Jerry, Ron and Dave Voit, Barb Niesen, Janet Lamb, Betty Kappes and Sandy Voit-Valdezate.He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Leonard Voit; brother-in-law, Charlie Niesen; and friend, Dennis Bakken.
