Howard LePier, age 83, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 14th at his home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18th at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, November 17th at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the National Guard Honors Team and ¢arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Messages of condolence may be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.Howard Henry LePier was born on November 30, 1929 in Fosston, MN to parents Arnold and Gerda (Johnson) LePier. He grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1947. Following school, Howard worked with his dad and his brother, Arvid, at LePier Oil Company in Fosston.He entered the United States Army in April of 1951 and faithfully served his country in Korea during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in March of 1953 and returned home.Howard was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Lou Reierson, on October 3, 1953 at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. He attended business school in Fargo and then returned to Fosston to resume work in the family business. In 1984 he began his new career with Lutheran Brotherhood. He and Betty enjoyed many wonderful trips and memories during his working years. Howard retired in 1994.Howard and Betty spent several winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ and San Diego, CA visiting their son. Summers were spent back home enjoying as much family time as possible with many weekends at the cabin in Canada. His life revolved around his faith, family, and friends. His loving, gentle spirit filled with smiles, hugs, and prayers will be forever missed. Even after all of his health issues, Howard would say "everyday is a gift".Howard was a dedicated member of Kingo Lutheran Church and was actively involved in several community and church organizations throughout the years.Howard passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 14 days.Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty of Fosston; three children, Renee (Dan) Anderson of Fosston, Tami (Larry) Miller of Fosston, and Joe (Jennifer) LePier of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Will), Reid (Melissa), Lindsay (Ryan), Brady, Rhonda (Terry) and Darin; ten great grandchildren, Jacob, Connor, Ruby, Maxwell, Camilla, Brook (David), Ethan, Sidney, Jonah, and Zach; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae LePier of Fosston and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Robert; brother, Arvid; and his sister and her husband, Edna and Doug Burau.Honorary Pallbearers: All of Howard's family and friends .Active Pallbearers: Liz & Will Glasgow, Reid & Melissa Anderson, Lindsay & Ryan Heyer, Brady Miller, Rhonda & Terry Nelson, and Darin Miller.
