Henry Bartz, age 94, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Thursday (July 26th) at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday (August 2nd) at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Dean Bell officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday (August 1st) at the McIntosh Community Center. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh.Henry Fredrick Herman Bartz was born in Holloway, Minnesota on February 24, 1913 to William and Emma (Polley) Bartz. He was baptized on March 20, 1913 in Holloway and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in McIntosh on June 5, 1927. Henry was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.Henry lived all his life in the McIntosh area. After leaving home he worked on the Marum farm until he married Orvilla Haugen on June 22, 1941. Henry and Orvilla made their home on the farm until December 1959 when they moved into town. Henry was proud of the fact that he and Orvilla were able to build their own home in McIntosh in 1962. Henry drove the school bus and the road grader for many years before finally retiring.Henry died peacefully in his sleep at the Pioneer Care center on July 26, 2007 at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 2 days.Surviving Henry are his children Judy Peterson of Golden Valley, MN, Amy (Pastor Max) Schaefer of Tigard, OR, and Harris (Debbie) Bartz of Buffalo, NY. Grandchildren: Chris (Stephanie) Schaefer of Sauk Rapids, MN, Pastor Ted (Nancy) Schaefer of Buena Park, CA; Rebecca (Chris) Kurtz of Sauk Rapids, MN; Merrit (Bill) Nelson of Minneapolis, MN; Charles (Loretta) Bartz serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq; Kattie (Marc) Blum of Rochester, NY; and Jason Bartz of Buffalo, NY. Great-grandchildren: Andrea, Chandler and Sarah Schaefer; Nathaniel and Hannah Schaefer, Tasha Kurtz and Mariah Bartz. Also surviving are his brothers Clifford of McIntosh, and Harold (Beverly) Bartz of Sleepy Eye, MN; and his sisters Jeanne (Lyle) Puffe of Grand Forks, ND, and Margaret Proehl of Glencoe, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Henry is preceded in death by an infant daughter in July 1945 and his wife, Orvilla on March 23, 1996, his parents, William and Emma Bartz; his brothers Richard, Edwin and Raymond; sisters Loretta, Dorothy, Wilma, Helen and Esther.Pallbearers are all nephews of Henry: Clayton Bartz, Curtis Bartz, Jim Pederson, Lowell Haugen, Greg Bartz and Sidney Fjerstad
