Helen Guldberg, age 90 of Fosston, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 8th at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 2:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Ebro Corner, Hwy 2, rural Bagley, MN with Rev. Mark Faugstad officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Wednesday, and interment will be at Cross Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Queen Township, rural Fosston. Helen Louise Larson was born on November 22, 1923 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Adolph and Inga (Ingeberg) Larson. She attended the Maple Hill School, graduated from Fosston High School in 1942, and went on to Beauty School in Fargo. Helen was married to Clarence Brustad on December 19, 1945 in Fosston. They worked at Yellowstone National Park where Helen was supervisor for laundry during the day and ran a beauty shop in the evenings at the Yellowstone Hotel. They moved to Crookston, MN and Helen worked 28 years at the Sekula Beauty Shop, which later became the Merle Norman Cosmetic, Beauty & Gift Shoppe. She owned and operated the business for 20 of those years. Clarence passed away in 1986. Helen was married to Reverend G.F. Slug Guldberg on September 2, 1990. Helen and Slug lived in Mankato. They both enjoyed traveling and especially their trip to Norway. Slug passed away in 1994. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and held offices in the Ladies Aide and was very active in the Alter Guild. On Tuesday, April 8, 2014 Helen passed away at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her brother, Rudolph Larson of Fosston; nephews and nieces, Randy Larson of Fosston, Mike (Jeannie) Larson of Elko, MN, Lorri Ann (Dean) Hartel of Red Lake Falls, MN, Scott (Patti) Larson of Lakeville, MN, Elaine Hicks of California, and Janice (Floyd) Wilson of Mississippi; step-children, John (Kathy) Guldberg of Minneapolis, Ruth (Mark) Boche of St. Francis, WI, and Judy (Bud) Krause of Winona, MN; and seven step-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Clarence and Slug; brother, Lawrence Larson; sister, Bertha Kittelson; nephew, Larry Kittelson; niece, Irene Combs; and step-son, David Guldberg.
