Hazel Grover, age 96, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 12th, at her home in Poplar Meadows in McIntosh. Memorial services for Hazel will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9th, at Poplar Meadows in McIntosh with the Rev. Gordon Syverson officiating. Interment will be in Sand Valley Lutheran Cemetery, Trail, MN. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Poplar Meadows. Hazel Alvina Halvorson Grover was born on March 30, 1921 in Hill River Township, Minnesota to parents Lars and Alma Christianson Halvorson. She was baptized and confirmed at Vernes Lutheran Church and attended the Lindsay country school near her home.Hazel was united in marriage to Clarence Alphonso Grover on November 1, 1939 at Hazel's parents home, the Halvorson Farm, in Hill River Township. After their marriage, they lived in Chester Township, rural Trail, Minnesota. Clarence passed away on March 24, 1997. After his passing, Hazel lived in the Summerfield Apartments in Fosston for 14 years. She moved to Poplar Meadows in McIntosh where she has resided for the past four years. Hazel enjoyed flowers, listening to country western music, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for quiet graciousness, happy personality and, most of all, her beautiful smile.Hazel is survived by two brothers, Vernon (Carol) Halvorson of Lengby, MN, and Francis "Knute" (Eunice) Halvorson of Washington State; nieces and nephews, Gary (Ginny) Frisk of McIntosh, Shirley Peterson, Bonnie Aakhus, Richard Swanson, LaMae Parry, Michael Halvorson, Patricia Hargreaves, Pam Halvorson and Cindy Reinier.She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Marvin LeRoy and Milton Wayne; four sisters and three brothers.
