Harvey "Jack" Rinkenberger, age 97, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday, January 26th, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31st, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, January 30th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Harvey Eugene Rinkenberger was born on November 26, 1921 in Parker Township, rural Stephen, Minnesota to parents William and Rose Wenger Rinkenberger. At the age of four, the family moved to the Hazel/Thief River Falls area where he attended country school. In 1941 the family moved to Fosston, Minnesota.Harvey married Doris Fish on June 23, 1948. Shortly after their marriage, they purchased the farm south of Fosston. He farmed his entire life; raising beef cattle, milking cows, grain farming, and raising pigs and chickens.After retirement, he and Doris enjoyed many bus trips including destinations of New York, Washington D.C., Canadian Rockies, Branson, Missouri, and trips to California. Each year they took a road trip to Medora, North Dakota on their anniversary. He was a member of Kingo Lutheran Church ever since the family moved to Fosston. He was a township supervisor for many years for Rosebud Township. One of his great enjoyments in retirement was morning coffee with the guys at Maple Ridge Café.Harvey passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston at the age of 97 years.Survivors include one son, Larry Rinkenberger of Los Angeles, CA; and two daughters, Carol Broadwell of Fosston and Brenda (Dave) Cornell of Horace, ND; five grandchildren, Jeffery, Sara, Larry Jr., Jenny and Dennis; and several great grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Birkeland of Fosston, Lorraine Jensen of Alexandria, MN, and Doris Hove of Fosston; two brothers, Roger (Janis) Rinkenberger of Fosston and Darrel (Norma) Rinkenberger of Fosston; and sister-in-law, Thelma Rinkenberger of Fosston. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris on November 29, 2009; his parents; son-in-law, Victor Broadwell; sisters, Beulah Mae Anderson and Eleanor Paulson; and brother, Archie "Bud" Rinkenberger.
