Harris Broin, age 89, from Duluth and formerly from Fosston, MN passed away on Saturday, June 26th at Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2nd at 11:00 AM at the Fosston Baptist Church in Fosston with Pastor Skip Hansen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church, and interment will be at Queen Cemetery, rural Fosston. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements.Harris Vincent Broin was born September 3, 1920 in Fosston, MN, to parents Joseph and Ragna (Bakken) Broin, where he grew up and graduated from Fosston High School. He remained in Fosston when his parents and siblings moved to California.When Harris went off to World War II, he married Mildred "Mim" Mickelson. He served 22 months overseas before returning to Fosston where he began farming. He farmed all of his married life, and also worked at the Fosston Post Office for more than 30 years. After retirement, Harris and Mim remained on the farm until 2005, when they moved to Duluth to live with their son Randy and daughter-in-law Janet. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and especially bowling. He has many trophies to prove that he was a very good bowler.Harris Broin passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth at the age of 89 years.He is survived by four children, daughters, Pam (Stan) Rea of Minneapolis and Sheila (Rick) Reinarz of Blackduck, MN, and sons, Randy (Janet) Broin of Duluth and Kevin (Lori) Broin of Redwood Valley, CA; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother Dennis Broin; and sisters, Janice (Ed) Groves and Lilas Biegel all of California.He was preceded in death by his wife Mim; his parents, Joseph and Ragna Broin; and his brothers, Orvis Broin and John Broin.Harris lived 89 years, and he always made the best of them.
