Gloria Roux

Gloria Roux, age 85, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 20th, at Riverview Care Center in Crookston, MN. A memorial service was held in March at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. A committal and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16th, at Kingo Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.

Gloria Violet Halland was born on February4, 1937, in Norman County, Minnesota the daughter of Godfred and Viola Hillstad Halland. She was baptized in Gary, Minnesota, confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston, and was a graduate of Fosston High School.

Gloria was united in marriage to Clinton “Ken” Roux on October 26, 1957, at Kingo Lutheran Church. They were blessed with one son, Jon.

They lived in Duluth, Minnesota for eight years and then for two years in Alaska before returning to Fosston in 1967.

During their years in Fosston, Gloria and Ken operated the Sears Catalog Store, Roux Furniture, and then Gloria took over as Deputy Registrar from Ken after his retirement. Ken passed away on March 27, 2007. Gloria continued to live in Fosston until moving to Riverview Care in Crookston in recent years.

She was a Life Member of the Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby and was a member of the Tangen-Walstrom American Legion Post #114 of Fosston.

Survivors include her son, Jon, of Crookston; brother, Norris Halland of Fosston and Kenneth (Pat) Halland of Colville, WA; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton “Ken”; her parents; four brothers, Orville, Gifford, Duane, and Allen; a sister who died at birth; brother-in-law, Milo Roux; and sisters-in-law, Mildred, Gladys, Cordella, Ethel, and Jeanette.
