Glenn Nordstrom, age 86 from Erskine, MN passed away on Wednesday (January 23rd) at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (January 29th) at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Erskine with the Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by the Bailey-Throne American Legion Post #596 of Erskine and the National Guard Honors Team. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Glenn Morris Nordstrom was born on October 5, 1926 in Oslo, Minnesota to parents Daniel and Hilda (Larson) Nordstrom. He moved with his family to Erskine as a young child, attended country school and graduated from Erskine High School in 1944.Following graduation, Glenn entered the United States Navy. He served on the USS Maryland as a radioman, receiving his honorable discharge on June 24, 1946. Glenn then went to work for Soo Line Railroad as a telegrapher until his retirement in 1983. Upon his retirement, Glenn returned to his roots making his home on the Nordstrom farm north of Erskine.Glenn loved gardening though he was known as a "planter" and not so much a "weeder". He was a member of Saron Lutheran Church where he was blessed with many good friends.Glenn passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the age of 86 years.He is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins; and sister-in-law, Ella Nordstrom of Erskine.He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Donald, Emery, and Gordon.Blessed be his memoryHonorary Pallbearers: All of Glenn's church family
