Gladys Anderson Gran, age 96, longtime resident of Erskine, MN, passed away on Friday (January 26th) at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (February 2nd) at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Dovre Lutheran Cemetery, rural Winger, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (February 1st) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Erskine. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home Erskine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, Dovre Cemetery, the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.Gladys was born on January 29, 1910 to parents Nels and Emma (Overland) Anderson in Sletten Township. She was baptized at the Gosen congregation and confirmed at Calvary Church in Winger, Minnesota.She graduated McIntosh High School and after Normal training in McIntosh, began her teaching career at the Foot Lake School, where two of her pupils were Vivian Benson Hanson and Chester Benson. She taught in various rural schools prior to her marriage.She married Emil Leonard Gran on June 20, 1937.She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and Mission Circle. She also taught Sunday School classes and mid-week classes at Grace.During World War II, she resumed teaching as a substitute to aid in keeping rural schools open during the war period of severe shortage.In 1954, she returned to education classes at Bemidji State College and completed her degree. She resumed full time teaching at Plummer, Minnesota for 18 years.Gladys H. Anderson Gran, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 26th, three days before her 97th birthday, at Rosewood on Broadway nursing home in Fargo, North Dakota.She is survived by her son Dr. Gary (Arlene) Gran of Fargo, ND, two grandchildren, Michelle (Corrie) Haux of Moorhead, MN and Christopher Gran of Deephaven, MN., great grandchildren, Alayna and Gregory Kohler of Moorhead, and sister Eleanore Olson of Erskine, as well as 4 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brothers Albert and Helmer Anderson.Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Berger, Leon Trandem, Stanley Strand, Keith Gunderson, Alvin Brovold, and Gale Larson.Active Pallbearers will be Douglas Hole, Joe Sandberg, Ron Howe, Neal Olson, Christopher Gran and Corrie Haux.
