Gladys BjerkeGladys Bjerke, age 90, of Clearbrook, MN and formerly from Leonard, MN passed away on Saturday, September 1st at the Good Samaritan Society in Clearbrook. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6th at 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook with Pastor Bob Kirchman officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church on Thursday, and interment will be at Norway Lake Cemetery, rural Leonard. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston, MN is in charge of the arrangements.Gladys Inez Erickson was born on February 24, 1922 to parents John and Lena (Hommen) Erickson in Deerfield Township, Dane County, Wisconsin. She attended school at Hendrickson Pond School, District 52, south of Leonard, Minnesota.Gladys was married to Roy Bjerke on September 28, 1940 at Clearbrook, Minnesota. They farmed for many years and had milk cows. She was a homemaker, and worked outside on the farm with Roy until they retired. Roy passed away on October 15, 2003.Gladys moved to the Brookfield apartments, and then to the Good Samaritan Society in Clearbrook. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard.On Saturday, September 1, 2012 Gladys passed away at the Good Samaritan Society in Clearbrook at the age of 90 years.She is survived by four daughters, Donna (Ken) Felt of Shevlin, MN, Shirley (Harlan) Aakre of Clearbrook, Carol Sauer of Shevlin, and Joyce (Jim) Chesley of Clearbrook; three sons, Ron (Linda) Bjerke of Shevlin, Lowell (Margaret) Bjerke of Bagley, MN, and Lester Bjerke of Bagley; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Lund; and one brother, Roger Erickson.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; one sister, Myrtle Netland; three brothers, Orrin Erickson, Milo Erickson, and infant brother, Oleander Erickson; and two sons-in-law, Wayne Sauer and Lavern Wastweet.
