Gladyce Miller, age 88, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (March 3rd) at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday (March 7th) at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Free Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday (March 6th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Condolences to the family may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Gladyce Elvera Salvhus was born on July 17, 1918 in McIntosh, Minnesota to parents Gunder and Betsy (Tyrdahl) Salvhus. She grew up and attended rural school in Brandsvold Township, rural Fosston, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Alvin Miller on February 17, 1936. After their marriage, they settled on a farm in Hill River Township, north of McIntosh. They lived there until moving to the Miller family farm where they lived for the next 35 years. In addition to helping Alvin on the farm, Gladyce also worked at the potato plant in Fosston for several years until its closing. Gladyce and Alvin moved into Fosston in 1980. Together, they moved to the First Care Nursing Home in Fosston in January of 2004. This past February, Alvin and Gladyce celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Gladyce loved to sing and play the piano. She enjoyed cooking, baking and providing hospitality to family, neighbors and friends. They made each and every person feel welcome in their home. Family was a very important part of her life, especially the time that she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Gladyce had also dedicated her life as a good and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior. Her Lord, her family and her many friends were a testament of that dedication. It was fitting that Gladyce's favorite saying was "praise the Lord." Gladyce went home to be with her Lord and Savior, with Alvin and family at her side, on Saturday morning, March 3, 2007 at First Care Nursing Home at the age of 88 years.She is survived by her loving husband, Alvin; two children, Barb (Nordin) Brinkman and Richard (Lynette) Miller, all of Fosston; 10 grandchildren, Paul, Mark, Tammy, Nancy, Allan, Lori, Brenda, Michael and Daniel; and 16 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Donna Miller of Fosston; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Disrud and Ethel Miller, both of Fosston; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her son, Roger; grandson, Steve; her parents; and four brothers and four sisters.Honorary Pallbearers will be all her family and friendsActive Pallbearers will be Daniel Miller, Michael Miller, Cory Carlson, Paul Brinkman, Mark Brinkman, Allan Miller, Chris Berg, and Lonny Carlson.
