Gerald Swanson

Gerald Swanson, age 75, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Thursday, October 6th, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th, at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, October 14th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Gerald Thomas Swanson was born on June 9, 1947, in McIntosh, Minnesota to parents Martin and Karen (Engesether) Swanson. He was raised in McIntosh and attended McIntosh High School. After high school, he moved to the Twin Cities to find work. He was united in marriage to Carol LaVerne Pittman on July 20, 1966, and they just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.  He and Carol moved back to McIntosh in later years through the present time.

Gerald loved to go fishing and take his grandkids to the lake for a weekend. He was a hard worker and loved to take the Amish to weddings, funerals, and many needed trips around the area. He loved to help people and, most of all, he dearly loved his family.

Gerald passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 75 years.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of McIntosh; two sons, Gregory (Karen) of Fargo, ND, and Steven (Tracy) of Crookston, MN; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
