PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FUNERAL SERVICE FOR GENEVA SWENSON HAS BEEN MOVED TO THURSDAY DUE TO POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS PREDICTED FOR WEDNESDAY.  THE FUNERAL TIME WILL REMAIN 2:00.Geneva Swenson, age 83, of Fosston, MN passed away on Sunday, March 20th at Midway Care Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 2:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston with Rev. Dean Bell officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the funeral home, and interment will be at Cross Lake Cemetery, rural Fosston at a later date. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Geneva Emma (Poppe) Swenson, the daughter of Louis and Ella (Franck) Poppe, who was born January 15, 1928 in Martin County, Minnesota. She received her education in rural school District #52 in Elm Creek Township, rural Trimont. Geneva graduated from Tri-Mont in 1947, later took a beauty course in Fairmont, MN, worked in Red Wing and Truman and then worked as a beauty operator at a shop in Westbrook, MN. On June 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to Omer N. Swenson of Westbrook. After their marriage they traveled to multiple areas as Omer pursued his Fish and Wildlife Conservation career. After retirement they settled in Bagley, MN.Geneva was a member of the First English Lutheran Church of Fosston, MN. She enjoyed knitting, antiques, flea markets and auctions, along with her love of collecting chickens and roosters.On Sunday, March 20, 2011 Geneva Swenson passed away at Midway Care Center in Fosston at the age of 83 years.She is survived by her husband Omer Swenson of Bagley, MN, her sister Martha (Poppe) Meyer of Kiester, MN, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Alfred, August and Marvin Poppe, one sister, Evelyn (Poppe) Wink, and other relatives.
