Gene Reindahl

Gene Reindahl, age 64, of Marshall, MN, passed away on Wednesday, June 21st, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Gene was born on May 22, 1953 in Casper, Wyoming to parents Sidney and Hedwig Sikora Reindahl. His family moved to Trail early in his life to help on his grandparent's farm, Ted and Valborg Reindahl. Sidney then got a job in the mines on the Iron Range, so the family moved to Embarrass and Tower, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pike-Sandy, Minnesota and graduated from Tower High School in 1971. That same year, Gene was severely injured in an accident which left him paralyzed from the chest down and in a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. Gene has lived in Marshall, Minnesota for most of his life where he had many good friends. He was truly an inspiration and a comfort to those who knew him. His perseverance led to him receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Southwest State University in Marshall. For the past 6 years, Gene has lived at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center.He loved the western life and enjoyed restoring old violins. Survivors include his mother, Hedwig, of Fosston; brother, Sidney, Jr. (Darlene) of Virginia, MN; and sister, Sedona Fossand of Fosston and Bemidji, MN; two aunts, Olga Dahlen of Thief River Falls, MN, and Dellys Reindahl of Rogers, MN. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Cheryl Hastings; and brother-in-law, Charles Hastings.A special thank you to the staff of Morningside Care Center for their wonderful care of Gene. It is much appreciated and he thought of all of you as family.
