Gary Moy, age 71, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (August 20th) at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (August 25th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday (August 24th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Gary Dean Moy was born on March 22, 1940 at home in Trail, Minnesota to parents John and Hazel (Anderson) Moy. He was baptized and confirmed at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail. He attended elementary school in Trail and Gonvick High School, graduating in 1958. During high school he worked at his family's business, Moy Service Station, in Trail and following high school, he lived and worked in Clearbrook, Minnesota. Gary worked for U.S. Steel and sailed on the William B. Schiller out of Duluth Harbor. Gary was united in marriage to Donna Schultz on August 22, 1973 at Sand Valley Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they lived in many places throughout the country including Duluth, Detroit Lakes, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. He and Donna moved to Fosston on May 1, 2009 where they have resided since. Gary loved to travel and be around people. He liked to joke around with family and friends, work in his yard, tend to flowers, and decorate for the holidays. He also enjoyed sports, especially football, basketball and baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Survivors include his wife, Donna of Fosston; daughter, Deb (Terry) Chambers of Fargo, ND; son, Dan (Jan) Moy of Halstad, MN; grandchildren, Casey (Laura) Chambers and Kelly Chambers, Rebecca Moy, Cassandra Moy, Nathaniel Moy, and Eliza Moy; and one great granddaughter, Avery Lynn; one sister, Doris Evje of Gully, MN; and brother, Donavon Moy of Gully, MN.Also surviving is brother-in-law, Ed (Renae) Schultz of Wheaton, MN; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Lowell) Schultz of Winger, MN, Karen Schultz of Fosston, and Tina Averill of Fosston. Several nieces and nephews also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ordell; one nephew, Doug Evje; and brother-in-law, Lester Evje.Pallbearers will be Cody Fjerstad, Joshua Averill, Jeremy Moy, Cory Moy, David Evje, and Dean Evje.
