Gary Faldet

Gary Faldet, age 67, from rural Erskine, MN passed away on Tuesday, September 28th at his home due to injuries sustained in an accident at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (October 2nd) at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Timothy Lundeen officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (October 1st) and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday, all at Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine.Gary John Faldet was born on September 9, 1943 in Gonvick, Minnesota to parents John and Judith (Bruhjell) Faldet. Gary graduated from Gonvick High School in 1962 and started his career in the lumber business that would last his lifetime. On August 10, 1963, Gary was united in marriage to JeNelle Thronson at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail, Minnesota. To this union two children were born, Dawn in 1964 and Darrin in 1967. During his life he made his home in Gonvick, Fertile and Erskine. Over his lifetime, he started several successful businesses that earned him a respected reputation in the building industry. Gary was an active member of the communities he lived in, serving on the Fire Department, Church Board, and other community groups. Gary was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially spending time at the hunting shack near Clearbrook, Minnesota. Gary also enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. He was a devoted grandpa in every way. He truly cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his family and was always up for an adventure. He will be remembered by those who loved him as an extremely generous man who gave of himself freely. He loved a good story or joke and was quick to laugh even if it was at his own expense.Gary passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from injuries he sustained in an accident at his home in rural Erskine at the age of 67 years and 19 days.Gary is survived by his wife, JeNelle of Erskine; two children, Dawn (Steve) Jacobson and Darrin (Krissy) Faldet of Erskine; brother, Jim (Virginia) Faldet of Gonvick, MN; and sister, Jeanette Hetland of Gonvick, MN; and his grandchildren, Dustin, Devin, Kinlee, and Alex.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jon; and sister, Carolyn Erickson.Gary meant so much to all of us and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. We also want to express our sincere appreciation for the many thoughts, prayers and kindnesses shown to our family during this difficult time.
