Garret Halland

Garret Halland, age 25, of Fargo, ND, and formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 26th, at his home in Fargo. A private memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10th, at Vernes Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh, with the Rev. Jill Torgerson officiating. Due to Covid restrictions, this service is for Garret's family only.However, after the graveside service, a Celebration of Garret's life will be held from approximately 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dale and Jean's home. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston. Garret Keith Halland was born on March 3, 1995 in Park Rapids, Minnesota to parents Thomas Halland and Jean Peck. He grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 2013. Following high school, he moved to Fargo and worked for Northern Plains Steel. Garret had a passion for music. He was currently working in pursuit of a career in producing his own music. He had a wonderful musical talent and spent many hours working in his home studio. Garret's goal was to, as he said, "change people's life through his music". He will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, his great sense of humor, and for his unusually long hair. Garret will be so dearly missed.Survivors include his mother, Jean Peck (Dale Disrud) of Fosston; father, Thomas Halland (Ruby Ahlgren) of Thief River Falls, MN; his fiancé, Alexandra Gunderson of Fargo; grandparents, Jean Frigstad, and Dellas and Vi Disrud, all of Fosston; siblings, Kimberly (Steve) Hagen of Grand Forks, ND, Jeffrey (Angie) Halland of Lengby, MN, Jeremy Halland of Lengby, MN, and Rob (Julie) Halland of Zimmerman, MN. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen Halland, and John and Dolly Peck; and uncle, Dougie Peck.
