Francis Weber, age 81, of rural Gully, MN, passed away on Saturday (April 21st) at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (April 27th) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Trail, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday (April 26th) and for one hour prior to the service on Friday. All visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston. Military honors will be provided by the Gonvick American Legion Post #304. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Francis Johnny Weber was born on April 13, 1931 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Andrew and Maggie (Agnes) Weber. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Charles Boromeo and attended school in Trail and Gonvick, Minnesota. At a young age, he helped on the Weber family farm before being drafted into the United States Army in 1950. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to the area and began work on the Soo Line Railroad.Francis was united in marriage to Marian Pladsen on June 3, 1957 in Trail. After their marriage, He continued his work on the railroad. In 1963 he and Marian purchased the Schneider farm and began farming. He also worked for over 25 years for Land O' Lakes in Fosston hauling milk until his retirement in 1992. He continued farming with Roger Schmidt after his retirement. Francis was a very hard working man and was well-known for his thick accent, his sense of humor, and his gift to gab. Francis and Marian also were dedicated foster care providers for 10 years.He enjoyed old time music, John Deere tractors, cutting grass, woodworking and four wheeling. He always enjoyed when his family and friends came to visit. He took pride in the upkeep of St. Charles Cemetery, where he will now rest in peace.Francis passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at his home in Eden Township at the age of 81 years.Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Marian, of rural Gully; five children, David of Gully, Lynn Vergal (Joe Varner) of Fosston, Rosie (Ole) Bruggeman of Oklee, MN, John of Gully, and Patricia Weber of Thief River Falls, MN; seven grandchildren, Vikki, Dillon, Britney, Jacob, Joshua, Brandon, and Paige; two great grandchildren, Kaidence and Theron; brother, Anthony (Virginia) Weber of Trail. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Patrick and infant twin sons, Peter and Paul.We will cherish our memories of him and he will be forever missed by his wife, family, friends and neighbors.
