Francis Lee

Francis Lee, age 65, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday (June 3rd) at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday (June 7th) at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday (June 6th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston. Sympathy messages may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Francis Harvey Lee was born on February 2, 1942 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Halvor and Hulda (Kompelien) Lee. He was baptized and confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church, where he was a lifetime member. Fran was united in marriage to Barbara Hanson on November 10, 1973 in Fosston, Minnesota. They eventually made their home in rural Fosston and purchased land in 1987, where they established a homestead. Fran took great pride in remodeling and making improvements to his home.Fran worked for 45 years in road construction as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for various local contractors, including Anderson Construction, AnCon, Vernon Nelson and Snookie Olson. He most recently worked for Rajala Construction out of Cohasset, Minnesota. Fran retired in 2006 and immensely enjoyed his first summer off with his wife and family.Fran loved the outdoors, his family, spending time with his grandchildren, reading, gardening, woodworking, crossword puzzles, cooking and was a general craftsman. He had a strong work ethic and was a very honest and generous person.Fran passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota at the age of 65 years, four months and one day.Fran is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barb of rural Fosston; two sons, Daniel (Jodi) Lee of Erskine, MN, and Joshua Lee of Duluth, MN; two daughters, Melissa (Chris) Ward of West Liberty, IA, and Christina (James) Haugen of Alexandria, MN; five grandchildren, Cody and Brittany Lee, Mikayla and Jaylan Ward, and Mia Haugen. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert (Lorraine) Lee of McIntosh, MN and Marvin (2-D) Lee of Fosston, MN. Many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Fran's family and friends.Active Pallbearers will be Walter Pederson, Jeff Lee, Robert Landsverk, Larry Anderson, Ron Roed, and Charles Rose.
