Frances "Frannie" Nord, age 80, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, June 28th at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Fosston, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com. Frances "Frannie" Loretta Burt was born on July 17, 1930 in Glyndon, MN to parents Richard William and Nona (Hilliard) Burt. She was baptized on July 31, 1933 in Glyndon, MN by Pastor C. B. Runsvold. Frannie grew up in Lengby, MN and graduated from Fosston High School in 1948. She was employed as a proofreader at The 13 Towns Newspaper for many years. On June 23, 1957 Frannie was united in marriage to Elmer Nord. She worked as the bookkeeper for Nord's Corner Drug and later at Nord's Pharmacy and Gifts in Fosston, MN until May of 2011.Frannie was a very active and involved person. She was a member of the McDowell Music Club, a past "Honorary Person Of The Year" for Heritage Days, Co-Chair of the 1988 Fosston All-School Reunion, and Community Club "Person Of The Year" in 1988. She served as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was on the hospital board, and along with Elmer served as an AFS Host Family. Frannie was also an active member of Hope Lutheran Church where she served as a Trustee, Friday School and Sunday School teacher, and W.E.L.C.A. Board member. She enjoyed baking, reading (especially newspapers), coffee parties, and volunteering a lot of time in the church kitchen. She also cherished attending her grandchildren's events and spending time with family and friends.Frannie passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 surrounded by her loving family, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND at the age of 80 years.She is survived by her husband Elmer of Fosston; one daughter, Barb (Jon) Bergquist of Bemidji, MN; two sons, John (Julie) Nord of Fosston and Paul (Monica) Nord of Vergas, MN; six grandchildren, Brady Bergquist, Jared Bergquist, Amanda (Carl) Hanson, Patrick Nord, Charles Nord, and James Nord; two sisters, Shirley Hood of Bagley, MN and Betty Devine of Cambridge, MN; sisters-in-law, Vivian Nord of Fosston and Lydia Zappa of Fridley, MN; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Jacki) Nord of LaSalle, IL and Glen Nord of Maple Grove, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are AFS Host sons, Marcos Hecke of Brazil and Obedia Shembe of South Africa.She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Robert Burt.
