Floyd Hyde

Floyd Eric Hyde, age 46, of Douglas, ND died Saturday, October 12th, at his home in Douglas. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th, at Rodnes Lutheran Church, rural Erskine with the Rev. Joel Smeby officiating. Interment will be in Rodnes Lutheran Cemetery. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Floyd was born on July 15, 1973 to Crawford and DeVonna (Hoovel) Hyde in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was baptized in Fairmont and confirmed at Rodnes Lutheran Church, Erskine. He started school in Fairmont, then the family moved to Erskine where he finished his education. He attended the technical college in Grand Forks until the flood and then went to work for several construction companies. He also worked at Arctic Cat and in the oil fields of North Dakota. His favorite work was the pawn shop business. He worked in Grand Forks as well as the Ideal Pawnshop that he helped to start in Bemidji. Floyd enjoyed fly fishing in Montana as well as writing. He had plans and hopes of writing a book and movie. Floyd died on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at his home in Douglas at the age of 46 years. Floyd is survived by his mother, DeVonna Berhow; brother, Shawn (Karen) Hyde; one half-sister, Vicky; four half-brothers, David, Carl Jr., Mike, and Jeff and their wives and families; an aunt and uncle, Bonnie and Howard Freeman; nieces, Cassandra Hyde (fiancé, Josh Farrell), Kelsey (Peter) Lofgren, and kids (McKenzie, Megan and Mason), Elizabeth Fox and son (Gage); and nephew, Robert Fox; and also his white cat, George. He was preceded in death by his father, Crawford; step-father, Cyril Berhow; half-brother, Rick; half-sisters, Kathy and Cindy; as well as grandparents, Floyd and Leota Hoovel.
