Florence Nyhus

Florence Nyhus, age 78, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 26th, at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2nd, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Interment will be in Landsverk Cemetery, rural Fosston, at a later date. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Florence Evelyn Preisler was born November 24, 1936, in Mahnomen, MN, the daughter of Jerry and Lillian (Brtek) Preisler. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Church in Bejou, MN and she graduated in 1954 from Mahnomen High School. After high school, Florence moved to Crookston, MN and worked for Ben Franklin store. Florence was united in marriage to Ordell Nyhus on June 29, 1955 and moved to Fosston. Florence and Ordell enjoyed spending time together and driving the countryside.Florence and Ordell raised 4 children, Larry, Fort Worth, TX, Steve, Fosston, MN, Randy, Fort Worth, TX and Patti, Bemidji, MN. They were blessed with 3 grandchildren, Cassie (Alex) Clark, Valrico, FL, Mandee Nyhus, Brandon, FL and Halle Nyhus, Fort Worth, TX and 1 great grandson, Jaxen Ordell, Valrico, FL.Florence enjoyed telling stories about growing up on the farm in Bejou. Florence also spent her time cooking, baking and gardening.She loved spending quality time with her family and enjoyed playing card games.Florence will live lovingly in the hearts of those she left behind. She has been a long time member of Kingo Lutheran Church.She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandson. Her sister Dory (Ed) Pavek and 3 nieces.She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mildred, husband, brother-in-law, Bob Olien, sister-in-law, Lorraine Olien and niece, Debbie Olien.
