Evelyn T. Johnson, age 95, from Fosston, MN passed away on Wednesday, November 10th at Essentia Health Long Term Care in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (November 15th) at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Interment will be in the Bagley City Cemetery in Bagley, MN. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service on Sunday (November 14th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Evelyn Thea McGladrey was born on January 6, 1915 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to parents Alexander David and Louise (Ross) McGladrey. At an early age she moved with her parents to Ebro, Minnesota. She attended school in Ebro through the eighth grade. She then attended and graduated from Leonard High School in Leonard, North Dakota on May 26, 1933. She graduated Salutatorian and was awarded a scholarship to Jamestown College. Evelyn was unable to continue on with her education and returned to Ebro to work.Evelyn married Clyde Russel Johnson on June 23, 1939 at the parsonage in Bagley, Minnesota. To this union three daughters were born; Elaine, Lynette, and Lois. Evelyn worked as Postmaster in Ebro from January 1, 1943 until her retirement on June 20, 1975. She moved to Fosston in 1982.Evelyn loved music especially listening to son-in-law, Tom Kipp play the piano. She sang with the Ambassadors of Praise and with choir and ladies group at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston.She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, making quilts and care bears. She enjoyed reading especially her Bible. She cherished her family and had a strong faith in God. She was active in church and volunteered and took part in many activities at the Embassy in Fosston.Evelyn enjoyed travel and took part in many tours and visited her daughter and son-in-law in Tucson often.Evelyn went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Essentia Health Long Term Care in Fosston at the age of 95 years.Survivors include her daughters, Elaine (Tom) Kipp of Circle Pines, MN, Lynette (Richard) Miller of Fosston, and Lois (Steve) Sorenson of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren, Tammy (Lonny) Carlson, Nancy (Jeff) Stewart, Allan (Veronica) Miller, Lori (Cory) Carlson, Michael Kipp, Sheldon (Rhiana) Kipp, Kayla (David) Lisowski, and Kenton (Allison) Kipp; and 13 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Clyde Johnson on March 2, 1978.
