Eugene "Gene" Freyholtz, age 69 of Bejou, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 25th at Essentia Hospital in Fosston, MN. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30th at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bejou with Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Eugene "Gene" Raymond Freyholtz, the son of Raymond and Ethel (Bleick) Freyholtz was born on October 21, 1941 in Fairfax, MN.As a youngster, he attended school in Fairfax, until his family moved to rural Bejou, MN in the mid 50's. He worked on the family farm until the early 60's when he moved back to southern, Minnesota to work for Anderson Farms. Gene was united in marriage to Ruth Warner on November 21, 1964 in Redwood Falls, MN. To this union two daughters were born. Gene worked for Dekalb Seeds and Phillips Farms before moving his family to the Freyholtz family farm in rural Bejou in 1978. He farmed on the family farm until he started working for Balstad Farms in 1993, he continued to work for Balstad Farms until his health prevented him to work any longer.Gene loved to farm, deer hunt and fix cars, there wasn't anything he wouldn't try to fix. Gene had the pleasure of showing his grandchildren the tricks of the trade over the years. He loved to tease everyone he came in contact with and will truly be missed by all.On Sunday, September 25, 2011 Gene passed away at Essentia Hospital in Fosston, MN at the age of 69 years.Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ruth Freyholtz of Bejou; daughter, Teri Freyholtz of Bejou, daughter, Lori Lindseth of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Tyler of Grand Forks, ND, Jenna & Shanna of Bejou, and Nikita of Albuquerque, NM; two brothers, Ronald Freyholtz of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Marlin (Traci) Freyholtz of Chetek, WI; two sisters, Lila (Samuel) Lang of Danube, MN, and Darlene (Arthur) Ferguson of Winger, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bobby, Ervin and Maynard.
