Ethel Rouland

Ethel Rouland, age 102, of Clearbrook, MN, passed away on Monday (June 1st) at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (June 6th) at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Mike Sletto officiating. Interment will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gully. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (June 5th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Ethel Celia Sorenson was born on May 2, 1907, the daughter of Bernt and Edith (Kjorven) Sorenson. She was baptized July 28, 1907, by Pastor Sater, sponsors were John Kjorven and Cristina Kjorven.She was confirmed September 2, 1922 at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick by Pastor Bergford. She was united in marriage to Ole Rouland on June 17, 1927 in Crookston, Minnesota.She enjoyed baking, reading, painting, sewing, and needle work.Ethel passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook at the age of 102 years.She is survived by six children, Duane Rouland of Gully, MN, Darlene Melander of Clearbrook, MN, Robert (Vivian) Rouland of Clearbrook, MN, Estelle (Maurice) Bolgrean of Moorhead, MN, Franklin (Mary) Rouland of Crownsville, MD, and Rosalind (Don) Pittaway of Gully, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Hoyum of Fosston.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ole on August 15, 1987; three brothers, Ted, Delmer, and Virgil; one sister, Iva Rouland; infant grandson, Jayson Rouland on December 9, 1957; and grandson, Jon Rouland on June 20, 2008.
