Ervin Mandt, age 88 from McIntosh, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 5th at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Scott Morey and Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Ervin Sidney Mandt was born on June 27, 1926 to Albert Sr and Emma (Thoveson) Mandt in McIntosh, Minnesota. He was raised in McIntosh where he was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and attended school. Ervin made his home in rural McIntosh where he was involved in farming until 5 years ago when he moved into McIntosh.He served on the King Township Board, McIntosh Shipping Association Board, McIntosh Coop Board, the Farmers Elevator Board and was a life member of the VFW Club. Ervin served in the U.S. Army from March 13, 1945 to November 15, 1946 during WWII after being drafted in the fall of 1944 during his senior year of high school. He left for the service in February 1945 before graduation but did receive his diploma. Ervin was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, served as a corporal in the artillery, and was sent to Okinawa as a medic. Ervin was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Japan and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged after the war.On Tuesday, August 5, 2014 Ervin passed away at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN at the age of 88 years.He is survived by his sister, Iris (Lyle) Eisert of Crookston, MN; brother, Albert Jr (Ruth) Mandt of McIntosh; sisters-in-law, Alta Mandt and Elaine Mandt; special friend, Laverne Benson of McIntosh; nephews, David Mandt, Kyle Mandt, Kerry Mandt, Kevin Mandt and Kurt Koehler; nieces, Nadine Knudson, Julie Mandt, Carole Richter, Karen Reierson, Lynelle Kukowski, Kim Windland, Kristi Holder, Connie Koehler, Jackie Koehler, Patty Koehler; and numerous great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sherman Mandt, (twin) Arvin Mandt; sister, Mavis Koehler; brother-in-law, Marvin Koehler; and nephew Todd Eisert.
