Erling Anderson

Erling Anderson, age 85, Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, March 5th, at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10th, at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bagley, in the spring. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Honors Team. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com. Erling Ralph Anderson was born on January 13, 1933 in Columbia Township, rural Fosston, Minnesota to parents Andrew H. and Ingeborg Rodland Anderson. He grew up in Columbia Township and graduated from Fosston High School in 1950. He then worked for area farmers until he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1953 until 1955 with his duty assignment in Big Delta Alaska. Erling began employment for Northwest Airlines in 1959, working both in Minneapolis and Rochester. He retired in 1993 after 33 years of devoted employment. He attained his private pilot license and loved to fly his six passenger Cessna. Traveling and recording the country through photography were passions of his until early onset glaucoma took that away. He was always the one taking movies and slides at all family functions.He was an avid bowler and was on many leagues. Erling loved the Lord and was very generous in gifts and donations to places that proclaimed the Gospel. Erling went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston at the age of 85 with his loving family at his side.He is survived by one sister, Elsie Gullekson of Fertile, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joseph, Ingvald, Alf, Robert, and Norman; five sisters, Agnes Potter, Thorhild Hanson, Mabel Anderson, Esther Carlson, and Norma Brown; and one niece, Michele Flodstrom.
