Eleanor Johnson

Eleanor Johnson, age 80, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday (April 1st) at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (April 5th) at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor Hollis Graves officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday (April 4th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and family condolences may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Eleanor Clarice Holm was born on November 1, 1927 in Hill River Township, rural Fosston, Minnesota to parents Erick and Clara (Bjerke) Holm. She grew up near Fosston and attended the Pine Hill School in Columbia Township. She then worked in the Clearbrook and Gonvick area before moving to Kansas City where she helped care for family.She was united in marriage to Marvin Johnson on March 13, 1951 in Inglewood, California. They resided in Fosston until moving to Lusk, Wyoming. They returned to Fosston where Eleanor worked and raised her five children. She was a long-time faithful member of Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston. Eleanor was well-known in the area for her lefse. She loved making lefse, but her passion was her love for Jesus and her family. She will be missed by many.Eleanor passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota at the age of 80 years. Survivors include five children, Bryan (Wanda) of Fosston, Bruce (Michelle) of Fosston, Bonnie (Greg) Petry of Moorhead, MN, Doug (Nanci) of Vancouver, WA, and Marlene (Kenton) Sorenson of Madison, WI; one step-daughter, Pam Papke of Milwaukee, WI; 16 grandchildren, Tami and Jen; Nikki (Erik) Berg, Aaron, and Aanders; Lisa, Laura, and Scott; Valisha, Jamison, Molli, Ashley, Clarissa and Andrew; Christopher (Jamie) and Erika; and one great granddaughter, Emily; sisters-in-law, Emma Holm of Clearbrook, MN and Helen Holm of Eagle River, AK; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents; and four brothers, Elmer, Arnold, Henry and Parnell.Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Grandma Eli's grandchildren.Active Pallbearers will be Dave Holm, Mike Johnson, Tim Johnson, Mike Solsten, Bob Overmoe, Gary Johnson and Steve Johnson.
