Elaine Haugen

Elaine Haugen, age 80, from Clearbrook and formerly from Gully, MN passed away on Saturday, July 11th at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 15th at 2:00 PM at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook with Rev. Dale Hanson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral at the church and interment will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gully. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston, MN is in charge of the arrangements. Sympathy messages may be sent to www.carlinhoialmen.com.Elaine Rosella Peterson was born on December 23, 1928 in Gonvick, MN to Casper and Hilma (Anderson) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick. She graduated in 1946 from Gonvick Public School. She was united in marriage to Orville Haugen on January 15, 1948. Elaine resided mainly in the Gonvick and Gully, MN area until November, 2008 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook. She was a devoted wife and mother and spent her life lovingly raising her twelve children with an everlasting commitment to her family. Elaine's strong faith in Jesus Christ carried her through life's tribulations and touched the lives of many. She taught Sunday school and served on the Ladies Aid at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully and later attended Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN where she also served. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her family and looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren. She has fond memories of the neighborhood children's frequent visits for cookies and welcomed the pleasant interruptions to her day. She enjoyed singing and was always willing to entertain the staff and residents at the Good Samaritan Center with songs. She also enjoyed drawing, playing bingo and cards.On Saturday, July 11, 2009 Elaine Haugen passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook at the age of 80 years. She is survived by twelve children, Dallas of East Grand Forks, MN, David (Debra) of Ozark, MO, Delaine (Bill) Bjerke of Savage, MN, Diane (Gary) Dawson of Prior Lake, MN, Darrell of Shevlin, MN, Dale of Owatonna, MN, Gary of Prior Lake, MN, Gerald (Stephanie) of Farmington, MN, Glen (Carol) of Elk River, MN, Gloria (Greg) Peterson of Alexandria, MN, Orvin of Gully, MN and Owen (Julie) of Gonvick, MN; 27 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Liz) Peterson of Molalla, OR, and one sister, Carol (Iver) Bergh of Pennington, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville Haugen; one infant granddaughter, and one infant grandson.Active Pallbearers: Kelly Haugen, Joel Haugen, Jesse Haugen, Joshua Haugen, Ryan Neill and Chad Peterson
