Eileen L. Hustad, age 87, from Erskine, MN passed away on Saturday, July 30th at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5th at 2:00 PM at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral, and interment will be at Dovre Cemetery, rural Winger, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Pioneer Memorial Care Center. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine is in charge of the arrangements and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinhoialmen.com.Eileen Lucille Johnson was born on May 12, 1924 to Carl and Anna (Pearson) Johnson at Hilland, S.D. She was baptized there and confirmed at Lima Swedish Church, rural Winger, MN. She moved with her family when she was 5 years old to a farm near Fertile, MN where she attended Pleasant View rural grade school and graduated from Fertile High School in 1942.Following high school she worked for a time in Minneapolis, returning to work at Garden Valley Telephone Company until her marriage to Harry Hustad, rural Winger in 1944. Eileen and Harry were married for 47 years until he passed away in 1991. They farmed near Winger until they sold the farm and retired in 1979. During those years she was employed at Pioneer memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN for fourteen years and Activity Director at the Fosston Municipal Nursing Home in Fosston, MN for eight years. She and her husband moved to Logan, Utah for eight years, returning to Fosston in 1989.Eileen and Harry loved traveling and enjoyed the friends they made. She participated in many activities including being an active member of Dovre Free Lutheran Church in Winger and Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston. She was an active volunteer and director of the Fosston Senior Meals and Relay for Life. She continued to volunteer her service to Pioneer Memorial Care Center (PMCC) and was president of the resident Council. Eileen loved music, playing for church services and activities at PMCC until this last year. She kept busy with her many crafts including crocheting and later working picture puzzles.On Saturday, July 30, 2011 Eileen passed away at Pioneer Memorial Care Center at the age of 87 years.She is survived by one daughter, Chyrl (Dean) Bursheim of rural Erskine; one son, Harvey (Julie) Hustad of Millville, Utah; six grandchildren, Rachelle (Tad) Campbell and Roberta Bursheim both from California, Chad Hustad, Camille (Jay) Young, Ryan (Camille) Hustad and Ashley (Eric) Walker all from Utah. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, one cousin and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband in September 1991, one infant son at birth, her two brothers and four sisters, and her parents.
