Edith Vedbraaten, age 72, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday (February 8th) at her home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (February 13th) at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Alan Arneson officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday (February 12th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. Edith was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile, Minnesota. In 1941 the family moved to rural Fosston where Edith was raised. Edith was confirmed at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston, and attended Fosston Elementary and High School.Edith married Edward Vedbraaten in 1953. Most of their life was spent in or around Fosston where they raised their six children. They were later divorced.Edith spent many years working in retail including Coast to Coast, Palubicki's, and Midway Care Center until ill health led her to retire.Edith passed away on Friday, February 8, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 72 years and 23 days.Survivors include six children, Daniel (Fay) Vedbraaten of Thief River Falls, MN, Thomas (Sheryl) Vedbraaten of Crookston, MN, Barbara Vedbraaten (Stephen) Leake of Colorado Springs, CO, Anthony (Debbie) Vedbraaten of Fosston, Janice Vedbraaten (Brett) Stein of Pelican Rapids, MN, and Lorraine Vedbraaten (William) Klaus of Guthrie, MN; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Schmidt of Fosston; and one brother, Roger (Karen) Vraa of Forsythe, MT; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlo and Ruby Vraa; and brother-in-law, Pete Schmidt.
