Dustin Simmons, 17 year old son of Rick and Audrey Simmons of Erskine, MN, passed away on Thursday (October 16th) at First Care Hospital in Fosston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (October 21st) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday (October 20th) and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Dustin lived in Grand Forks from 1991 until 2001 and then moved to Glenwood, Minnesota for three years. He was presently living at home with his parents near Lake Sarah by Erskine, Minnesota. With Dustin's many medical problems, he spent much time at St. Paul Children's Hospital, Gillette Children's Hospital and Riverview Hospital in Crookston, Minnesota.Dustin was a junior at Win-E-Mac High School in Erskine. He was in the special education program and loved band and choir. He was also a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings, loved being outside and loved music. Dustin passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 17 years. He is survived by his loving parents, Rick and Audrey Simmons of Erskine; two brothers, Dave (Jen) Simmons of Fargo, ND, Darren Simmons (fiance, Sarah Winter) of Erskine; one sister, Jody Simpkins of Crookston, MN; nephews, Jason Winter and Henry Simmons; grandmother, Mary Motl of Fosston and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen Curfman, Gilma Boucher, Miland "Bud" Simmons; cousin, J.R. Simmons; and uncle, Larry Oak.Honorary Pallbearers will be Win-E-Mac Junior Class and special education and the Win-E-Mac Band and Choir.Active Pallbearers will be Briane Bursheim, Michael Curfman, Matt Curfman, Jon Oak, Joe McQuiston, Josh Curfman, Rick Karboviak, Nathan Simmons, and Michael Simmons.
