Duane Froirak

Duane "Dewey" Froirak, age 74, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday (April 15th) at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (April 24th) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Pastor Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural McIntosh at a later date. Friends may greet the family for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, serving McIntosh and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Duane Oren Froirak was born on January 11, 1935 at home in McIntosh to parents Sam and Clara (Oppegaard) Froirak. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, attended McIntosh High School and graduated in 1952.After graduation he worked in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In a short time, he returned home to McIntosh to care for his parents and work the family farm. In 1961 he married LaDonna Sip. In 1963 they had one daughter, Debra , and resided in McIntosh. He worked at the McIntosh Creamery before he worked for Land O' Lakes in Fosston where he retired in 1992.Duane has been a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and an active member in the community, always willing to help a friend in need. He greatly enjoyed his family and friends. He was a loving husband who diligently cared for his wife during her own struggles with cancer. He was a great dad, wonderful grandpa, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend.Duane especially enjoyed traveling to visit his daughter, son-in-law and his biggest joy, his grandsons. Duane "Dewey" Froirak passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota at the age of 74 years.He is survived by his wife, Donna of McIntosh; daughter, Deb (Joe) Icenogle and grandsons, Drew and Reese of Denver, CO; sister, Avis Tufte of Ada, MN, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Brian Tufte; brother-in-law, Davis Tufte; and nephew-in-law, Darrell Miller.Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin Wikstrand, Bill Bingham, Gordy Omodt, Melford Grundyson, Glen Brua, and Lawrence Torske.
