Dorothy Christen

Dorothy (Lindfors) Christen, age 72, of Duluth, MN and formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 25th, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Friday, July 28th, and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial may be directed to ASPCA.Dorothy Ann Lindfors was born on April 5, 1945 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Carl and Charlotte Tangen Lindfors. She grew up and attended school in Fosston, graduating with the class of 1963. After high school, Dorothy attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She received her degree in 1966 and moved to Crookston where she worked as a social worker for Polk County. Dorothy was united in marriage to Harry Christen on May 27, 1967 in Crookston. After their marriage, they resided in Crookston until 1969 when they moved to Duluth, Minnesota. Harry and Dorothy worked and raised their family in Duluth. She was employed with St. Louis County as a social worker until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Duluth, the Sons of Norway, the Swedish Cultural Society, and the Red Hat ladies group. She enjoyed traveling and animals. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Harry, of Duluth, MN; three children, Tracey (Marc) Johnson of Mora, MN, Nate Christen of Minneapolis, MN, and Nick (Andrea) Christen of Billings, MT; grandchildren, Brendan and Jacob Johnson and Karena and Charlotte Christen; and sister-in-law, Irene Lindfors of Fosston. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vernon Lindfors; and step father, Frank Steinbrenner.
