Donna Storrusten, age 79, from Fosston, MN passed away on Thursday, February 4th at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Poplar River Cemetery, rural Fosston, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. After living in Lehr and Grand Forks, ND, her family settled in Fosston, MN in 1947.Following high school, she was united in marriage to Gil Storrusten on April 23, 1949, at First English Lutheran Church in Fosston. After their marriage, Gil and Donna raised their family on their farm in Rosebud Township. Most recently, she lived at Evergreen Apartments in Fosston.In addition to being a homemaker, Donna worked at Simplot Potato Plant and was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Johnson's Rest Home in Fosston.Donna was a member of Hope Lutheran Church of Fosston. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, reading, traveling, and sharing her baked goodies over coffee. Most of all, she loved the time she spent with her family.Donna passed away on February 4, 2010, at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 12 days.Donna is survived by two daughters, Susan Skunes and her husband, David of Fosston, and Dianne Olander and her husband, Joel of Bloomington, MN; four grandchildren, Kateri and Lee Skunes, Jamie Olander and Nicole (Bryan) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Sharon Storrusten of Fosston; brother, Harvey Whittmyer of Tuscon, AZ; and great-grandchildren, Fiona and Kloe.She was preceded in death by her husband, Gil; sons, Gary and Douglas; infant daughter, Catherine; infant son, Wayne; grandson, Joey Olander; and her parents.
