Don Sultvedt

Don Sultvedt, age 69, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Friday, October 27^th, unexpectedly at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3rd, at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, Lengby. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Donald Wayne Sultvedt was born on April 11, 1954, in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Soren and Aldora (Otness) Sultvedt. He grew up in the Fosston/Lengby area and graduated from Fosston High School in 1972. After high school, he attended St. Cloud Vocational Technical College where he studied autobody.

While in St. Cloud, he met the love of his life, Joyce Zwilling. They were married in the summer of 1975 and settled down on the Sultvedt family farm. In the late 1980’s, Don changed careers and worked as a heavy equipment operator under IUOE Local 49ers Union.

In the fall of 2002, Don retired from the Union and went back to working on the family farm (although he never really left).

Don enjoyed fishing in all seasons, plowing out the entire neighborhood after a fresh snowfall, and competing in various tractor pulls (adding to his collection of 1^st Place trophies). For many years, Don served as President of the Fridhem Church board and volunteered his time and talent for many renovation and charitable projects. Donnie will always be known for his kind actions and his quick wit.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce, of Lengby; daughters, Lonnie (Mike) Schmit of Fosston, and Julie Sultvedt of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Mason, Alexus and Timmothy; three siblings, Jerry (Betty) Sultvedt of Crystal, MN, Judy (Curt) Bartz of McIntosh, MN, and Russell Sultvedt of Fosston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
