Dolores "Dody" Narveson, age 84, of McIntosh, MN passed away on Thursday, December 25th at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30th at 2:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the McIntosh Community Center, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in McIntosh, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home serving McIntosh is in charge of the arrangements.Dolores Valerie Narveson was born on August 30, 1924 in Brandsvold Township, rural Fosston, Minnesota. She was lovingly adopted at the age of two days by parents Alfred and Clara Narveson. She grew up in McIntosh, was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she remained an active member throughout her life. She attended McIntosh public school, graduating with the class of 1942."Dody," as she was known by all, was an active participant in the life of the community of McIntosh. She was the librarian for 47 years, retiring in 1999. She learned all the reading preferences of the citizens, writing a weekly column for the paper with library activities and book reviews. She moved the library at least four times. She was the local correspondent for the McIntosh Times. When the phone rang on a particular day of the week it could be Dody asking "do you have any news for the paper?" Dody kept a list of everyone's birthdays and called each one to wish them a Happy Day.She taught countless piano students during 40 years, was a very accomplished needleworker creating pieces in needlepoint and embroidery. She was the music for the Senior Citizen's group and their kitchen band for all the years of its existence. At Our Savior's, she was the organist and pianist for 53 years - weddings, funerals and every Sunday service. She willingly covered others at special events.Her last years were spent at Mac Manor, "the best place to be", participating in activities and enjoying the care.She went home to the Lord on Christmas morning, 2008 at the age of 84 years.She loved her friends, classmates and people in McIntosh-always thanking for care, always smiling. She leaves behind these people (students and friends) with precious memories of her and thanks for being able to share her life.Dody was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Clara; and very special friend, Stanley J. Hinton.Honorary Pallbearers will be staff of the McIntosh Manor Nursing Home.Active Pallbearers will be Bruce Haaven, Harold Thompson, Ron Strom, Melford Grundyson, Carey Burslie, Ron Roed, and Howard Krossen.
