Diane Maruska, age 71, of Lengby, MN, passed away on Friday, September 6th, at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in Bagley, MN. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Jane Ekholm officiating. Interment will be in Poplar River Cemetery, Fosston. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Diane Rae (Sovick) Maruska was born June 6, 1948 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Severt and Lillian (Anderson) Sovick. She grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1966.Diane was united in marriage to Raymond Maruska on June 25, 1966. After their marriage, they resided in Fosston and later made their home south of Lengby. Diane worked as a nursing assistant for several years at the Fosston Muncipal Nursing Home and at Midway Care Center. Diane was awarded nursing assistant of the year in 1994, an award she cherished. Diane retired from Midway Care Center in 2006.Diane was an excellent seamstress and a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. Diane enjoyed making pajamas for her grandchildren and shopping and lunch outings with her daughters and granddaughters. She will be dearly missed.Diane passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Raymond, five children, Debby (Todd) Bjerke, Dennis (Trisha) Maruska, Kristie (Terry) Sistad, Karen (Donavon) Hames and Tommy (Jill) Maruska. 17 grandchildren, Briana (Bryan) Randt, Michelle and Maria Bjerke, Allison and Klae Maruska, Jessicah (Derek) Vesledahl, Trevor, Rebecca and Terah Sistad, Jade (Joel) Larson, Olivia Hames, Hunter (Dusty) Juve, Calie, Courtney, Tyler, Laytn and Koy Maruska; 5 great grandchildren, Layni and Hensli Randt, Brynn and Gemma Jo Larson and Graham Vesledahl. Great grandma Diane was excited for the arrival of two more great-grandchildren in November, baby O'beirne and baby Vesledahl. She even jokingly named them.She also leaves a large extended family of brothers Steve (Mary) and Leon (Barb) Sovick; sisters Sandra (Bernard) Viktora, Joann (Robert) Maruska, Linda Arnold, Gail (Paul) Deihl and several nieces and nephews.She was preceeded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Maruska and brother Jerome Sovick.
