Dewain Brinkman, age 84, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday, February 5th, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11th, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Aage Carlsen officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com.Dewain Carroll Brinkman was born on October 18, 1934 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Olaf and Emma (Oistad) Brinkman. He grew up in Hill River Township where he attended the Fairview country school and graduated from Fosston High School in 1952. After high school, he worked for the Minnesota State Highway Department.Dewain was united marriage to Arlene Anderson on May 29, 1954 at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby, Minnesota. Soon after his marriage, he began work at the Fosston Creamery. In 1964, he started at Land O'Lakes, eventually managing the plant until his retirement in the early 1990's. He continued on with Northern Milk Products through a transition period and did handyman work around the area with Dutch Abele and Gil Storrusten for several years. In addition to his various occupations, Dewain also had a hobby farm where he had some livestock and crops. Dewain loved to spend time with his family. He and Arlene enjoyed going to countless ball games and other events through the years for their children and grandchildren. Times they truly cherished. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting outside on a nice summer day at the farm taking in the beauty around him. He was a long-time member of Kingo Lutheran Church. In January of 2019, he entered McIntosh Senior Living and was there until his passing on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the age of 84 years.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Arlene, of Fosston; seven children, David (Rosemarie) Brinkman of Fosston, Ellen Brinkman of St. Paul, MN, Dean Brinkman of Fosston, Dan (Deaun) Brinkman of Hutchinson, MN, Don (Amy) Brinkman of Fosston, Julie (John) Nordquist of Fosston, and Ann (Robert) Vorce of Fosston; grandchildren, Mike Brinkman, Nate (Andrea) Brinkman, Kelly (Joe) Boler, Matt Brinkman, Chelsea (AC) VanRaden, Cody Norquist, Brianna (Will) Bergstrom, Derek Brinkman, and Jared Brinkman; great grandchildren, Julia, Annika, and Mace; one brother, Nordin (Barb) Brinkman of Fosston. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Erick Brinkman; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Clarice Brinkman; and two sisters, Joyce Brinkman and Marie Thompson.
