Deloris Ringstad, age 90, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Friday (June 27th) at Essentia Hospital in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 6th) at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully, MN with Dawn Hanson, LLM officiating. Interment will be in Lund Lutheran Cemetery, Gully. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at carlinhoialmen.com.Alaine Deloris Haugen (Deloris) was born May 31, 1924 to Lawrence and Myrtle (Paulson) Haugen in Gully, Minnesota. Deloris was raised in the Gully area, and spent much time with her grandparents the Paul Paulson and Anton Haugen families. Deloris attended country grammar schools and graduated from Fosston High School in 1942. After high school, Deloris moved to the Duluth area where she married Earl Ritchie and had two daughters, Rose Marie and Sandra Lee. In 1946 she married her high school sweetheart Arnold Ringstad, a marriage that would last 38 years until Arnold's passing in December of 1984. After marriage Deloris and Arnold lived in East Grand Forks Mn, then moved to Crookston MN where son Arnold Dwayne (Corky) was born in 1948. Later they lived in Bemidji MN and then the Twin Cities, where son Kerry Ardell was born in 1959.In 1966 Deloris, Arnold and Kerry moved to Dixon, California, where they would spend the next 15 years, until Arnold's retirement. In 1981 Deloris and Arnold moved to Fosston until Arnold's death in 1984. Deloris then moved back to California, but after two years moved back to Gully and then Fosston, where she would spend the rest of her life.Deloris and her sister Maxine made many cross country trips, visiting their brothers in California and Washington D.C. Deloris also traveled to Germany, visiting her son Corky and his family during his Air Force assignment to Bitburg Air Force Base.Deloris led a full and active life. She enjoyed being part of the Gully community and was a lifelong member of Lund Lutheran Church and Lund Ladies Aid. She belonged to the Trail VFW and the American Legion Auxiliary in Gully. In Fosston she enjoyed many activities at the Embassy and making good friends playing cards at several locations. Deloris was especially close to her good friends Lois and Leonard Ball. Deloris was very proud of her pioneer roots and Norwegian heritage.Deloris was a caregiver for many friends and relatives, helping them through difficult times and ill health. She spent some happy years as a nurse's assistant at the Fosston Nursing Home, fulfilling her young girl's dream of becoming a nurse. She loved her friends and family and loved spending time with her many grandchildren.Deloris passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years and 27 days June 27, 2014 at Essential Hospital in Fosston Minnesota. At her side was her son Kerry and grandsons Arnold and Tyler.She is survived by daughters Rose (Ken) Miller, Sandra (Dwight) Husby, sons Arnold (Frances) Ringstad and Kerry (Mary) Ringstad, and grandchildren Scott (Tara) LaPlant, Angela (Dave) Vize, Shanie (Dave) Valtierra, April (Jimmy) Thomason, Aubrey (Tom) Ahlman, Arnold Ringstad and fiancé Christina Eschbach, and Tyler Ringstad. Great grandchildren Jonathan, Cassidy, Zoe and Ian LaPlant, Laura and Johnny Vize, Adrianna and McKenna Thomason, Alyson and Kathryn Ahlman, and great great grandson Anzliegh LaPlant.Deloris is also survived by brothers Percy (Virginia) Haugen, Larry (Mary) Haugen, Leland (Kathy) Haugen, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all very dear to her.Deloris was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Myrtle Haugen, husband Arnold Ringstad, sister Maxine Paulson, sister in law Ruth Haugen, and son in law Dave Graff.Blessed be her memory.
