Delores Schow

Delores Schow, age 87, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Wednesday, February 15th, at Essentia First Care Living Center in Fosston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21st, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with the Rev. Ernest Christensen officiating. Interment will be in Gosen Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home, serving McIntosh. Messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com. Delores Virginia Hartel was born to Hannah and Bennett Hartel on January 11, 1930 in McIntosh, Minnesota on her grandparents farm. Delores attended school at the country school in King Township and graduated from McIntosh in 1948. She began her teaching career at Foot Lake School, the Enerson School, Hill River Township and later in Gully. In 1953 she married Charles Allen Schow of Gardner, North Dakota and in 1967 she began teaching at the McIntosh School. During this time the couple raised five children on their farm south of town. Delores retired from the Win-E-Mac School in 2004 at the age of 74, after teaching 37 years. Delores was always active in her local community, the school system and member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, attending Ladies Aide, Circle, Bible Study and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Delores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be fondly remembered by friends, family and many students that she lovingly taught and mentored throughout the years. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Bennett and Hannah; an infant brother named Omar; husband, Allen; sisters-in-law, Doris and Leila; and brothers-in-law, Merle, Ed and Mac. She is survived by her children Calvin (Annie) Schow, Danny (Mary) Schow, Paul (Julie) Schow, Ann (Don) Miller, and Susan Bryan; grandchildren Karlie and Nickolas Schow, Matthew (Ashley) Schow, Kristi (Chris) Grettum, Ryan Schow, Tyler (Amanda) Schow, Kassi Schow, Kain (Hunter) Schow, Kathryn (Chris) West, Jonathan (Nicholette) Bly, Benjamin (Ashleigh) Bly, Raja and Arman Bryan; great grandchildren Kolton and Liam Schow, Mikayla and William West, and Allen Bly; sister-in-law Lorraine McCawley and nephew James McCawley.
