Delores "Dee" Larson Heins, age 75, of Colorado Springs, CO and former resident of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday (March 22nd) in Colorado Springs. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (April 8th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Delores Mae Hoff was born on November 26, 1934, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents Peter and Mabel (Skrukrud) Hoff. She attended school in Appleton, Minnesota and graduated 1952. She then attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, Dee sang in the Concordia Choir and graduated in 1956 with a degree in music. While in school at Concordia, Dee was a member of The Blue Garder Club. It was a club of 14 Chrisitan Women for over 50 years now. Delores was united in marriage to Charles O. Larson on June 9, 1957. After their marriage, she taught music at various schools, including Oslo, Eagle Bend, and Upsala, Minnesota. They moved to Fosston in 1971. Dee and Charles were members of Hope Lutheran Church while living in Fosston. They owned and operated Birch Cove Imports in Fosston for several years. In 1982, they moved to Tucson, Arizona and later to Phoenix. Charles passed away in 1987. Dee moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1997. Music was important to her throughout her life. While in Fosston Dee sang in the church choir at Hope Lutheran Church. Dee was very involved at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Phoenix, where she played for the evening church service, sang in the choir, she performed in their musicals, directed music for vacation bible school and was the Wedding Coordinator for many years. Dee was married to Alan Heins in 2006. They both shared a love of music, she played the piano and he played the organ. She was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's late in 2006. Alan passed away in December of 2008. Dee was residing in Colorado Springs, Co with her daughter, Margo, son in law, Gary, and granddaughter, Shelby and of course her friends Bear and Max the dogs. Gary became her full time caregiver, they listened to music, one or her favorites, Bocelli's Christmas CD and fished as much as they could. Dee passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010 in Colorado Springs at the age of 75 years. Survivors include one son, Kendal Larson, spouse Gretchen, of Sugar Land, Texas; one daughter, Margo Allen, Spouse Gary Allen, of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Amanda Dee Phrakonkham of Bagley, Mn, Gary Allen, Jr. of Hollywood, California, and Shelby Allen at home in Colorado Springs, CO; two great grandchildren, and Ava and Ian Phrakonkham. Dee will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
