Deaun "DJ" (Johnson) Van Liere, age 54, of Minnetonka, MN, and formerly of Fosston, MN, passed away on Saturday (June 2nd) at her home in Minnetonka following a multi-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (June 8th) at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the MS Society of Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston.Deaun Lynn Johnson was born on December 28, 1952 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Sidney and Ione (Sheggrud) Johnson. She grew up in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1970. After high school, Deaun moved to the Twin Cities and was employed as a hairdresser, managing "The Barbers" in Excelsior, Minnesota. Deaun was married on September 6, 1980 to Keith Van Liere. After their marriage, they lived in Edina, Minnesota. Deaun was currently living in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Deaun was a past member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston where she was baptized and confirmed. She was active in tennis but golf was her passion in life. She won many trophies for her golf and she and her husband won the Mr. and Mrs. Club Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club. Deaun passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at her home in Minnetonka following a multi-year battle with multiple sclerosis at the age of 54 years.Survivors include her mother, Ione Johnson of Fosston; sister, Yvonne Johnson of Excelsior; and Keith Van Liere of Chanhassen, MN. She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Johnson and brother, Craig Johnson.
