David Olson

David L. Olson, age 62, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Sunday, November 8th, at the Arrowwood Residence in Bemidji, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Poplar Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. David was born October 2, 1953, to parents Chester and Elaine Olson of rural Fosston. He graduated from Fosston High School in 1972. David threw hay bales, shoveled corn and grain, and milked cows on the homestead. He also worked as a carpenter.A highlight of his life was helping with the dismantling of the Fosston grain elevator on Highway 2. David enjoyed keeping up with baseball and football. His facts and figures of ‘sports trivia' was phenomenal, and his details were astounding. David was a gentle soul, with a huge heart. He accepted life, as he fought the struggle of mental illness, and every day he would try to make a difference as he walked and talked to people. He knew that God was Sovereign and the He promised to strengthen us through all things. In his heart, he had the assurance of an everlasting life with Jesus. David was a special part of our lives. He ran the course and crossed the finish line with courage, as Jesus called him Home. He allowed all of us to become more patient, understanding and compassionate. David Lynn Olson entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, November 8, 2015 on a clear, starry night in Bemidji, Minnesota at the age of 62 years.He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Olson. He is survived by his mother, Elaine Olson; and his six siblings: Bruce (Diana) Olson, Rebecca (James) Flaherty, Craig (Jen) Olson, Cynthia (Darel) Gustafson, Lorrie (Pat) Harris, and Lois (Bob) Storey.
