David Hamre

David Hamre, age 80, formerly of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Sunday, December 10^th, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20^th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Pam Thorson officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, rural Erskine. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. David Elmer Hamre was born on September 1, 1943, in Crookston, Minnesota to parents Elmer and Selma Hamre. He grew up in the rural McIntosh/Erskine area and graduated from Erskine High School in 1961. After high school, David took over the family farm, milking and raising beef cattle.

He was united in marriage to Dianne Lynn Christiansen on March 29, 1975, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine. To this union two sons were born, Peter and Erik.

David was a farmer at heart. He farmed at the home farm near McIntosh for many years. Later in his life he transitioned from owning his own farm to working for Bauer Farms of Erskine. David and Diane moved to Grand Forks in 2018.

He liked hunting, fishing, and loved talking about guns and cars, especially Fords. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and had been a Deacon at one time.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Dianne, of Grand Forks; two sons, Peter (fiancé, Samantha) of Grand Forks, and Erik (Tanya) of McIntosh; grandchildren, Lexi, Maci (fiancé, Blake), Kobe, Braylon, and Jameson; as well as future grandchildren, Kenzell, Rory, Mickey, and Samaya; two sisters, Shirley Kraft of McIntosh and Marlene O’Brien of St. Louis, MO. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Watts; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Kraft and Jim O’Brien.
