Cyril Lee Thompson III, age 32, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, September 25th, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3rd, at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Ragan officiating. Interment will be in Kingo Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Monday, October 2nd, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Cyril Lee Thompson III was born on August 23, 1991, in Fort Myers, Florida to parents Cyril Lee Thompson, Jr. and Carla Marie (Skarsten) Thompson. He moved with his family back to the Fosston area as an infant. He attended Fosston Public Schools, graduating from Fosston High School in 2010. After high school, he attended the White Earth Tribal College in Mahnomen for a year.
Cyril loved hunting, fishing, tatoo art, music, video games, and football (he especially liked teasing his mom, Carla, about the Vikings). He shot his first deer the last deer season; a feat that he was very proud of. He also enjoyed watching documentary and biography programs on tv. Most of all, Cyril enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Cyril passed away with his family by his side on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks at the age of 32 years. Though his physical life ended on this date, Cyril gave life to several people through selfless gift of organ donation.
Survivors include his mother, Carla Thompson, of Fosston; grandmothers, Bev Skarsten, of Fosston and Brenda Thompson of Fort Myers, FL; three siblings, Tyler Thompson of Fosston, Alexis Fleisher (Ross) of Winger, MN, and Rachel Fleisher (Cole) of Detroit Lakes, MN; half-brothers, Elias Munoz of Duluth, MN, and Harland Hanson of Waubun, MN; and half-sister, Kiara Thompson of Fort Myers, FL; nieces, Avery, Kenzi and Blake Thompson, and Elliot Matson; and nephews, Henry Matson and Bennett Hanson. Numerous cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandfathers, Grant Skarsten and Cyril Thompson, Sr; aunts, Melanie Skarsten and Carrie Thompson; and cousin, Kenya Thompson; and several aunts, uncles and his great grandparents.
