Curtis Paulson, age 87, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 22nd, at Cornerstone Living Extended Care in Fosston. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th, at Poplar Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fosston with the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Free Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston, at a later date. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are with the Carlin Funeral Home of Fosston and messages of condolence may be sent at www.carlinfuneral.com. Curtis Ellsworth Paulson was born July 12, 1930 at McIntosh, Minnesota to Elmer and Cora (Moen) Paulson. He lived and worked in the McIntosh-Fosston area graduating from Fosston High School in 1948. In 1950 he worked in Fargo at Selland Salem Auto as parts manager and at Overvold Motors.He was married to Eleanor Rose Rinkenberger on October 23, 1955. They lived in Moorhead, Minnesota and moved back to Fosston in 1961. He worked on and off at Haugstul Auto for over 50 years. Music was very much a part of Curtis' younger life. He sang solos for many church services and also for weddings. He sang at his own wedding. In 1967 he started serving in pulpit supply, speaking in various churches in the area. He served as a licensed lay pastor at Karlstad and Newfolden from 1992-1998, where he also worked with hospice. He served New Hope Fellowship of Laurel, Montana, in Grygla, Minnesota and in Kelliher, Minnesota. He also taught Sunday School classes for many years. Curtis passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Cornerstone Residence Extended Care in Fosston. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor; three daughters, Rosalie (Glen) Larson of Fosston; Pam (Tom) Nielsen of Grand Forks, ND; and Diane Illies of rural Solway, MN; four grandchildren, Aanders Nielsen of Fargo, ND; Dane Nielsen of Grand Forks, ND; Heather (Chris) Cronemiller of Isanti, MN; and Nathan Illies of Columbus, GA and his fiancé, Hannah Morgan; three great grandchildren, Ciara, Reschard and Gabrielle Cronemiller; brother, Dale (Grace) Paulson of Vallejo, CA; sisters, Mardell Kenney of Detroit Lakes, MN; Phyllis (Noel) Sletten of Park Rapids, MN; and Fran (Rick) Hauge of Redwood Falls, MN, and several nieces and nephews.
