Clarice Brinkman, age 80, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Tuesday (January 3rd) at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (January 7th) at Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. John Dalen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service on Friday (January 6th) at the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Clarice Arlene Kjolhaug was born on April 23, 1931 in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Tollef and Clara (Svedahl) Kjolhaug. She attended Sletten country school in rural Fosston and graduated from the AC in Crookston, Minnesota. After graduation, she pursued her nursing career in Minot, North Dakota before returning to Fosston where she worked as a nurse for 38 years. Clarice was united in marriage to Glen Brinkman on June 20, 1953 and together they raised six children. She was a member of Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston. Clarice's favorite song was, "You are my Sunshine" but it was she who was our sunshine by how she loved, her gentle soul and her sweet, sweet smile. Survivors include her six children, Sue (Rick) Skadsem of Pelican Rapids, MN, Jim Brinkman of Erskine, MN, Sharon (Garry) Kotts of Stephen, MN, Jo (Terry) Miller of Grand Forks, ND, Beverly (Jon) Hodgson of Bemidji, MN, and Bob (Christy) Brinkman of Detroit Lakes, MN; eleven grandchildren, Steve (Sara) Skadsem, Christina (Tim) Cox, Timothy Skadsem, Courtney and Nathan Kotts, Benjamin and Samuel Hodgson, Tristan and Ava Miller, and Ryan and Emma Brinkman; three great grandchildren, Jordan, Brenna, and Maren Skadsem. Other relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 2, 1992; her parents; and her brother, Tollef, Jr.
