Chester Hallof, age 58, of Mentor, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 26th, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30th, at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor Seth Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, rural Mentor. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wears Valley Ranch. www.wvr.org.Chester Oscar Hallof Jr. was born August 1st, 1959 in Mohall, ND. He grew up in Antler, ND and then moved to Washington to live with his brother, Ron, and sister-in-law Barbara, at the age of 8. He later moved back to Antler, ND where he married his first wife, Alisa. Several years later, he married Kira. Chester lived a very colorful and adventurous life, including time spent traveling with the carnival. He was a strong, hardworking, selfless, fun loving, simple guy who was always ready with a quick-witted answer. You knew he liked you if he gave you a hard time. His children describe him as honest, straightforward, confident, optimistic, and true - hearted. He had a great smile.His loves are his wife Kira, and his five children - Nicole (Tyler), Chester the 3rd, Charlie (Jewel), Jason (Marie), and Faith (Matt), along with his grandchildren - Adayla, RJ, Clay, Noelle, Ryder, CJ, Brody, Garrett, Nina, and Emmy. Also, the Brown family, the Kazmiercak family, the Call family, Vivek Danielson and Liam Bishop, whom he also considered "family". Next to his family, Chester's love was truck driving, which had been his line of work for a combined total of 40+ years. Many times, he would look at Kira and say "I get to drive truck today."However, his greatest Love was the Lord Jesus Christ, whom he placed all of his trust in as Lord and Savior of his life at the age of 51 years. His love for his Savior was evident right to the end and witnessed by many. He was loved both in heaven and on earth. He will be greatly missed.He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, his brothers, Ron (Barbara) and Ken (Glenda), his brothers-in-law, Glenn (Elaine), Mike (Carol), his nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends. Chester entered the presence of the Lord Jesus on April 26, 2018 at home, surrounded by people who loved him.
